Wood Core: The Soul of Every DPS Ski

Wood Core: The Soul of Every DPS Ski

The soul of every DPS ski starts at its laminated wood core.

We use several meticulously sourced species of wood that are each chosen for the specific characteristics it brings to each ski. We choose the right materials for the performance we want to achieve. Sometimes that means prioritizing stability and vibration absorption. Sometimes it means creating a lighter, more efficient ski for long days in the mountains. Every material always has a deliberate purpose.

Poplar: Delivers a lively, energetic feel

American Red Oak: Offers exceptional strength and impact resistance helping to add dampness and stability

Paulownia: Used for its impressive strength-to-weight ratio, which allows us to reduce weight while maintaining durability

The process of wood core engineering matters, too.

We have developed and patented a proprietary core preparation process designed to create greater consistency and control throughout the structure of the ski. Every piece of wood is carefully evaluated and prepared in climate-controlled conditions, where humidity is precisely managed. The wood is cut, bonded, and then cut again to create a more harmonious structure that can be fine-tuned for more consistent flex and on-snow feel

Carbon is the performance, and the wood core is the soul.
